The Truth About Treadmill Walking for Weight Loss

by Torri Tompson

I’m sure like many people you may think that losing weight is complicated or hard, but I’d like to show you how easy it really can be. Did you know for instance that walking on a treadmill is one of the easiest and most effective methods of burning calories and therefore losing weight? It’s a sad fact but our busy schedules mean a lot of us find it hard to find time to exercise.

After spending all day behind a desk, the thing people want to do as soon as they get home is just collapse on the sofa and watch TV because they are so worn out from work. I’m sure you will agree that this isn’t a very healthy lifestyle, but luckily there is a fantastic quick solution which can really help improve things.

If you don’t want to join a gym, you can invest in a treadmill that will easily fit anywhere in your home and provide you with the workout you need to lose weight. There’s no difficult equipment to learn how to use either. You just get on and walk!

The majority of us seem to do less and less exercise as we get older. Most people forget how mobile they used to be in their younger days, and it’s easy to fall into the habit of not exercising. But each of us knows how to walk, so there’s no need to worry about using a home treadmill properly, or wondering how many reps we should do as is the case with other types of equipment.

Once you have invested in your treadmill the only other thing you will need is a little bit of motivation to set yourself on the path to losing weight. For many people losing weight means having to carefully measure food servings and try and work out how many calories they have eaten, and how many they have used up.

Walking on a treadmill means you don’t have to think so hard about losing weight. Many studies have shown that even a 10 minute walk every day improves your cardiovascular health.

Of course, the more you walk, the better your health will be. If you can try to hit 2000 steps each day, you’ll begin to see results in the weight loss department fairly quickly. Depending on how fast you walk, you will take 2000 steps in a 20-30 minute exercise session.

Walking provides many health benefits aside from losing weight. It helps prevent heart disease, lowers your blood pressure, and assists in controlling your diabetes. It will even help boost the clarity and concentration in your mind.

If you are serious about using treadmill walking as a way to lose weight, you may benefit from buying a pedometer because research has shown that people who monitor the number of steps they take each day usually increase their activity and therefore see the best results.

Don’t be worried about starting out your treadmill walking workouts slow. Over time you can gradually use your treadmill for longer periods, at a faster face, and a steeper incline which will all help to increase your health and fitness as well as burning the maximum number of calories.
