High Impact Workouts Using An Exercise Bike Machine

by Chris Channing

Exercising bikes have been a popular exercise equipment since they were invented. You get the benefits of riding a bike, but none of the bad parts like falling and skinning your knees and elbows. You also get to be in the comfort of your home; which is particularly useful for those that are self conscious or live in a large city.

Exercise bikes are exactly what their name states. They are bikes that do not go anywhere, the way a treadmill allows you to walk forever without really going anywhere. They are convenient, easier to use than a bicycle, and can help you avoid bad weather and potential accidents on a real bicycle. Not to mention, you can sit in front of your TV, read a book, or listen to music while using an exercise bike indoors. None of which you can do outdoors on a “real” bike!

Many gyms offer classes that feature an exercise bike, such as a Spinning class. These are high intensity workouts that give your entire body a fat blasting, sweat dropping, cardio blast. Spin classes typically burn 600 calories for the average sized human. That means overweight individuals have the opportunity to burn well over 1,000 calories during a single 1 hour class. Spinning is a highly popular and effective cardio workout using an exercise bike.

Exercise bikes offer users a powerful workout. With these workouts you can burn well over 500 calories an hour, simulate riding in beautiful scenery, increase intensity for “hills”, and track calories burned. Exercise bikes are fun, and give you a complete cardio workout.

High impact cardiovascular workouts can be achieved through spin classes, or even on your own. Exercise bikes can easily switch from low impact to high impact, offering your body a tough fat blasting workout. High intensity exercise bike workouts should not be done each day, because your body will become accustomed to that level of intensity.

Low impact workouts on an exercise bike are also possible, and fairly easy. Low intensity cardio workouts on an exercise bike can raise your heart rate to a desired level without really pushing your limits. You can advance even with low impact workouts, and in a much safer manner.

Exercise bike workouts are great for anyone that has little time, little space, or wants to try something new outside of the treadmill range.
