Many slimming teas today contain weight loss laxative ingredients within them that you don’t realize that are there. Although that can help you to lose weight you may be unaware of what effect they can have on your body and health overall.

Yes using these slimming drinks can increase the frequency of bowel movements, which may give the impression that the body is cleansing itself of those things that are harmful to it, but also you may find it is bringing in things which are harmful to it as well.

Herbs like Aloe, Senna, Buckthorn, Cascara and Rhubarb Root have been used for many centuries in treating the problem of constipation. Studies carried out recently have shown that using these herbs to stimulate bowel movements do not allow the body to absorb enough calories for it to function properly.

The reason for this being that laxatives affect the small intestines and which is where most of the calories our bodies absorb come from. Instead they should be functioning on the large intestines. So if you decide to drink lots of weight loss laxative teas then this will impact on just how much fat is absorbed by your body. But by using them too much may well lead to weight loss it can lead to reversible damage being caused to your gastrointestinal system and lead to softening of the bones.

The reason why people prefer to use slimming teas over other kinds of weight loss laxative products is they generally taste better and cost a lot less as well. Plus they offer a chance to see results almost straightaway. However, these can cause problems for those who suffer from various kinds of eating disorders like anorexia.

Certainly for pregnant women these weight loss laxative teas could affect their pregnancy and may cause problems if they are trying to conceive. Although there is no proof that they affect a woman’s menstrual cycle or their fertility, it is better to be safe than sorry.

If you do intend to use slimming teas to help lose weight then it is important that you carefully read the labels on each product to find out what ingredients they contain. Often rather than labeling a product as a laxative tea the manufacturer will label it as a product that contains natural bowel cleansing properties. But the problem with these is that they contain little or no calories and nutrients which the body needs.

Also if you use weight loss laxative teas for any period of time they can cause unwanted side effects. From nausea, to vomiting, to diarrhea, to stomach cramps, to dehydration, to electrolyte disorders and fainting spells. Also if used for many years they can cause problems to your colon which may require it having to be removed completely.
