The Biggest Advantages of Interval Training

Almost everyone is looking for a sure way to lose weight and gain muscle mass at the same time, but it can be hard to tell the different between scams and actual proven methods. It doesn’t have to take hours at the gym to achieve the body you have always dreamed of, and equipment sold on infomercials shouldn’t be trusted either.

If you want to gain muscle while losing weight, the way to go about it is to work on your body as a whole, which is what interval training does. Rather than running for hours and hours every week - which will only build leg muscle, interval training instead works on all of the muscle groups throughout your body in order to lose weight and build muscle evenly.

The way that interval training works is to gradually build the difficulty of workouts instead of jumping right into an intense exercise regimen. Using this system you can choose from among exercises which will target the major muscle groups or mix it up and target many different muscle groups simultaneously. This variation leads to much better results than doing the same workouts all the time.

One of the best benefits that interval training has to offer is the recovery time needed after each workout. Doing cardiovascular exercises or weight training exercises for a long period of time can leave your muscles sore and weak and they can sometimes require up to a week before being able to workout again. Interval training works out the muscles in small increments, so they can recover faster and be ready for the next workout.

Best of all, interval training is fun. Many exercise routines are boring (for example, running in place on a treadmill for hours or doing exercise videos again and again, you get the idea). With interval training you can do different exercises all the time. As long as you exercise the target muscle groups that need to be worked on, you’ll get the same great results.

Interval training works to speed up your metabolism, but doesn’t require you to work out for hours at a time. By using the different muscle groups in every exercise session, you are signaling your entire body that it is time to lose weight. By doing so, you can stimulate your metabolism to process food in a healthier manner, making it much easier to lose weight in a reasonable amount of time.

It is important to not only work out the muscles when exercising, but is as equally as important to work out the lungs and the heart. It doesn’t mean that you have to engage in cardio exercises for an hour at a time, since interval training actually works out the heart and the lungs as well. By breathing during repetitions, the lungs are being worked out even in low impact exercises. The heart is also being worked as heart rate increases, which is usually done by increased weight and faster repetitions.

Interval training is the real deal; it’s not some 2 am infomercial bargain. With the design of an interval training program, you can lose weight and gain muscle mass with the same program, without the hours and hours other programs require at the gym. The variations not only keep you fresh and involved in the workout, but they keep your body fresh and ready to go as well.
