Fiberglass is definitely the choice to make for durability. The pools made from fiberglass are much more carefree than the other material pools can be made out of. Water does not affect the fiberglass causing the reactions that screw with the chemicals like concrete does. Concrete is not only higher to maintain cleanliness wise but concrete can crack over time. Vinyl liners are a bit easier to maintain than concrete but they can still just slap wear out over time. Due to the fact that fiberglass pools can shift and move with the earth these pools can even be in earthquake zones. Fiberglass swimming pools are not good in real cold climates. You have to keep them partially filled with water at all times and in real cold climates you cannot do this. So in states like Michigan you may need to use concrete of the vinyl liners for pools. Check with your local pool store to know which to use.

Think about where you want your pool to be installed. Is it convenient to getting to a restroom in your house? Are you taking into consideration the size of your yard compared to the size of your pool? If you are on septic are you placing your pool right in relationship to it? All of these things will be important questions to answer.

You will also want to landscape around your pool after it is fully installed. Make sure to use plants that can withstand the pool chemicals. Check with your local nursery to find out which plants are best. You may also keep in mind that you do not want high maintenance plants around you pool too. You want to keep the whole area very relaxing to be in. Now you are ready to fully enjoy swimming and socializing in your pool.
